A run around Westridge Heights showcases a neighborhood turning over and reflecting a new era for Greensboro. Developed before such communities showed strong uniformity, you need to make sure you know your route before you start, as you may get lost in observation or add a quarter of mile because a street connects differently than you expected.
Many of the homes are over 60 years old but have been well-maintained and the retirees who once raised their families welcome new families into the neighborhood. As new generations of Westridge Heights children are born, the excitement up and down the streets are palpable among those who’d lived there a long time.
Serving within the community is the newly renovated Pinetop Sport Club, a fun and welcoming establishment that can serve as the neighborhood hangout after a tennis or sand volleyball match. The pool is destination number one all summer for the youngins. Directly across the street, you can view the construction progress of the newly rebuilt Claxton Elementary, set to open in August 2024. Multiple community playgrounds scatter the neighborhood streets.
A strong grocery and retail footprint sits just west and north of the neighborhood, with all you’d need to serve and feed your household. Three grocery stores, a Target, and a Home Depot are all close at hand. Craft City Sip-In has your post-work socializing covered while Sub Spot and Giacamo’s Italian Market duke it out across the street for top sandwich destination. Village Tavern sits just north for a pleasant evening out. If the immediate area doesn’t have what you need at the moment, quick access to Bryan Boulevard can get you downtown or to PTI in ten minutes.
