  • Weatherspoon Art Museum: UNCG’s Weatherspoon Art Museum has built a permanent collection of modern and contemporary American art that includes works by Warhol, Matisse and Picasso, and is considered one of the best in the Southeast. 
  • Caza Azul of Greensboro: Inspired by the home of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera in Mexico City, Casa Azul organizes and participates in programming focused on building an understanding of the diverse Latino community in the Triad through art-based education and cultural activities.
  • Cultural Arts Center: The Greensboro Cultural Center is a multipurpose arts facility with modern art galleries, a restaurant, multiple dance studios, pottery studios, a podcasting studio, a black box theater, and the state-of-the-art dance venue, the Van Dyke Performance Space. Experience the culture of Greensboro with four floors of entertainment. It’s an art destination in Greensboro.
  • Civil Rights Museum: The International Civil Rights Center & Museum is an archival center, collecting museum and teaching facility devoted to the international struggle for civil and human rights. The Museum celebrates the nonviolent protests of the 1960 Greensboro sit-ins that served as a catalyst in the civil rights movement. 
  • GSO History Museum: The Greensboro History Museum – an AAM-accredited Smithsonian Affiliate – is a division of the City of Greensboro Library Department and operates as a public-private partnership with the nonprofit GHM Inc. In partnership with the community, the Greensboro History Museum collects the city’s diverse history and connects people to that history and one another through engaging exhibits, educational programs, and community dialogue.
  • Elsewhere: Elsewhere, a world renown museum and artist residency set inside a former thrift store in downtown Greensboro. The museum is home to a collection of objects in this 3 story former furniture, fabric, military surplus and second-hand store were amassed by Sylvia Gray over the course of 58-years.  When Sylvia passed away her grandson declared that none of this collection would leave the space and nothing else would be acquired.  The space now provides material and context for site-specific artistic experimentation and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Scuppernong Books: Named one of the South’s Best Bookstores by Southern Living magazine, Scuppernong Books is an independent bookseller in downtown Greensboro. 
  • Greensboro Bound: Each year in May hundreds of book lovers, readers, writers, publishers, academics, and scholars converge on downtown Greensboro for the annual Greensboro Bound Literary Festival. Over the past six years, the festival has hosted notable writers including Roxane Gay, Ani DiFranco, David Zucchino and Zadie Smith. 
  • NC Folk Festival: After three successful years of hosting the National Folk Festival, Greensboro became home to the North Carolina Folk Festival in 2018. The NC Folk Festival takes place each September and features more than 300 artists on multiple stages with continuous performances. The Festival attracts huge crowds of people to downtown Greensboro for a three-day celebration of cultural heritage through music, dance, handmade crafts, food, and family fun! The event is FREE and open to the public. The NC Folk Festival brings over 85,000 people to downtown Greensboro annually. 
  • Eastern Music Festival: For six decades, Eastern Music Festival (EMF), a nationally recognized classical music festival and summer educational program, is produced each summer on the campus of Guilford College and other venues in the Greensboro, North Carolina, area. EMF is distinguished by its accomplished faculty, exhilarating repertoire, and world-renowned visiting artists under the artistic direction of Gerard Schwarz. A powerful teaching institution, EMF provides encouragement and guidance to hundreds of young musicians from across the country and around the globe as they take their first steps towards careers in the performing arts.
